Consultancy Services on Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan (LARAP) Phase II — Mentarang Induk Hydroelectric Project (MIHEP)
As part of the development of the Mentarang Induk Hydroelectric Project (MIHEP) in North Kalimantan, this consultancy encompasses the second-phase study of the Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Plan (LARAP). The assignment addresses significant resettlement impacts — both physical displacement and economic loss — arising from the project’s large-scale hydropower facility and associated infrastructure. The scope includes designing compensation policies, livelihood restoration programmes, validating land acquisition procedures, assessing host-community interactions, consulting affected persons, and establishing grievance redress and dispute resolution mechanisms. The study is conducted in compliance with Indonesian legal frameworks and aligned with international best-practice standards such as the Hydropower Sustainability Guidelines, IFC Performance Standards, and the Equator Principles.
Through these efforts, the project supports PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara in building a structured and equitable resettlement framework that safeguards the rights and welfare of affected communities, ensures transparent land acquisition, delivers fair compensation, restores livelihoods, and strengthens community resilience — thereby embedding social sustainability into the broader hydropower initiative.
